DOT C SOFTWARE PORTS FILM QUALITY RENDERING TOOLKIT, RENDERDOTCTM , TO HP’s ITANIUMTM-BASED WORKSTATIONS

COMPANY OFFERS FIRST PHOTOREALISTIC RENDERER

FOR BOTH HP-UX ON PA-20 AND LINUX ON INTEL® ITANIUM™ PROCESSOR

Kailua, HI. (January 31, 2002)-- Dot C Software’s announced today that RenderDotC is the first photorealistic rendering toolkit on the market for Hewlett-Packard Company's high- performance Intel® Itanium -based workstations, delivering quality images at unprecedented speeds.

RenderDotC has been production tested and used in feature films by major Hollywood studios and has proven to be the fastest scanline renderer on the market, able to produce the highest quality images necessary for feature film and broadcast. The company demonstrated the toolkit's capabilities on the HP workstation i2000 to create photorealistic images and animation sequences suitable for motion picture and television special effects with benchmarks that are proving to be some of the fastest ever. By providing the ability to download and use the free demo version of RenderDotC , Dot C Software, Inc., has received accolades from users worldwide.

"With the porting of RenderDotC on HP workstations, we're bound to change the graphics industry," said Cheryl M. LaMont, President of Dot C Software, Inc. "We believe the new product and its strength on HP workstations will help bring down the cost of creating feature films, television, and animation for the studios, while allowing better image quality at speeds previously impossible to achieve. In addition, we believe our new solution will enable filmakers and others to lower their costs while shortening their production schedules. We’re excited to be working with HP and know this will help both companies supply customers with the tools they need to create today’s products."

"There were actually two ports involved," added Rick LaMont, Dot C Software’s Chief Technology Officer, "First, for the mature Visualize product line that runs the HP-UX operating system on RISC PA-20 chips. Second, for the new HP workstations built around the Itanium architecture running Linux. As these 64-bit boxes move to the next-generation Itanium processor, code-named McKinley, I expect the special effects industry to take notice."

"HP’s Itanium-based workstations offer the high bandwidth, large memory and powerful floating-point performance that is ideal for the photorealistic images and animation that RenderDotC users are known to tackle," said Barry Crume, business product manager for Itanium-based workstations, HP Technical Computing Division. "We are thrilled that Dot C Software is sharing in our vision for the future as an early supporter of Itanium-based systems."
